New Buys & Beginnings

Over the last two weeks two things have happened. One I bought these super comfortable nude wedges from Chinese Laundry, that I want to live in! Two I have transformed my blog from Something Borrowed to Honest Twenty OneOver the last two months after releasing Something Borrowed I have really come into my own with the whole "blog thing". I originally started my blog because I wanted to share my thoughts about fashion, food, love, and whatever else. However after getting so involved with writing and producing my content I realized it is so much more then just sharing my thoughts. I am not a famous celeb so why do people care what I have to say, when there are a zillion other fashion bloggers out there?!

So over the last month or so I have thought about all these things that this brand I am trying to build should stand for, and what are the things I really care about and want to share with you all. The name change was my first step! This was important to me because my reasoning for Something Borrowed was no longer the same. My reasoning was because I was borrowing ideas and inspiration, putting my twist on it hence "Something Borrowed".  As I became more aware of my voice and impact as a blogger I zoned in on my end goal and purpose. Who is my target market, what is my relationship with my viewers, what companies do my viewers and I lust over, and what could I offer, as Megan the blogger, fashion expert, and business women.

These important questions and the growing success of my blog made me confident that I could do more with this then just take pictures and write about clothes. So there we have Honest Twenty One is born! HTO is for the diverse and ambitious 20 something, who is creative, curious, versatile, and ready to explore what the world can offer her. I am overly excited to announce Honest Twenty One as my new and improved website, and can't wait to share all of the exciting things I have been working so hard on.

Stay Tuned!

99 Problems but Style Ain't One

Besides the occasional parking ticket or two while working or shopping along main street in Manayunk, I've noticed the small city streets are filled with fun urban fashion. Not to mention the scenery! Jeans and heels are some of my favorite parings! For me it is a nice blend between casual and dressy wear. I could wear this outfit to brunch with the girls, or out to dinner with the boy. My favorite part about it, is how comfortable I am in this type of look! Boyfriend jeans, Boyfriend Jeans, Boyfriend Jeans! I cannot express how much I love them! I am so NOT a jean person! I like jean shorts but typical plain blue jeans are something I own less of. Just because they aren't as comfortable to me. Fashion and style comes with confidence and comfortability. If I'm comfortable I feel more confident in my outfit choice! So boyfriend jeans make this an easy compromise! I worry less about the fit of the jean and more on what I pair with the baggy legged pant. This is a trend that has definitely come back in a big way and isn't going anywhere!

I took to the streets of Manayunk for the first time since the weather has officially broke and it  was a breath of fresh air! Literally the air felt like spring and everyone was out to enjoy it. I have always loved monochrome looks. To me they can be bright and bold even with the same color palate. So I mixed shades of white, gray, and cream. I added a jean jacket for an extra pop!

My shoe obsession this season has reached an all time high! I came across these low platforms at Primark, (which I'll talk about more later)! These shoes were so inexpensive and they were a perfect pairing piece for this look. The mix of cream, gray, and white really came through the snake skin pattern. Exploring the streets of Manayunk was so much fun, and inspired me for some other looks I'll later explore with you all. Just like the scenery I hope your days are as bright as this one was. Thank you for stopping by! xo

Spring Came Early

Photographer: James Conley

Normally at this point in the year it is cold and snowy, but here in the city of Philadelphia spring has sprung a little early. This year the weather is really making things a lot different in the sense of fashion. With this beautiful weather I figured why not shoot with fresh flowers and a mix of different colors! While trying to gather up some spring looks and collaborating with my fashion partner in crime Nicole Boychuck and our photographers set, I came across this beautiful Free People lace skirt. I instantly fell in love with the pale pink lace and the way it matched the theme of spring just worked perfectly. Free People is a brand I consider hipster (in a good way) and every now and then I find awesome pieces like this one that are so elegant and girly yet hipster! Army green is my go to color for pretty much any season any time! Because most of my spring clothing is not out yet, (because it’s March why would it be) I paired the pale pink and army green together and it makes for a total spring look. I’m definitely going to be milking these warmer temperatures!
