NYFW Day 2
Michael Costello, Chromat, and Vivienne Hu
Day 2 started with the TRESemmé team over at Spring Studios. They gave me a super cute braid and loose tousled curls. Then I was off to the Michael Costello show. The show was filled with floral dresses, bold colors, and sexy silhouettes. The Chromat show was nothing less then amazing! Every season the show gets bigger and better. Vivienne Hu gave me serious spring fever! (already, yes!) The lace, bright pale pinks and yellows, I seriously need to get one of her pieces!
This year kicked off with a bang and it’s now almost March (how?!) If you’re from anywhere on the east coast – you’re probably all too familiar with the hormonal weather. What is hormonal weather you ask? It’s quite common to be in the 70’s here one day and then a chance of snow and in the 20’s the next. It’s insane. I keep spring, summer, fall, and winter clothing out all year round because you just never know what tomorrow may bring! Sheer turtle necks for instance, are a good piece to use during multiple seasons. I paired it with an off the shoulder top, silk trousers, and some sling backs. This outfit is ideal for the crazy weather we've been experiencing here on the east coast! Conventional layering with a pariisian twist.
Mix up your winter work wear with hints, of animal prints or florals! I use to be afraid of wearing bold prints because I felt like it didn't match anything, but mixing a print with a less bold pant like these grey and white striped trousers makes it an easy outfit I can rock to the office. Today was another crazy busy day for me. Shows and presentations almost every other hour. To start the day was Dan Liu, whose show was so beautifully presented. I loved all the baby pinks that were added to his collection. Coincidentally my first look matched perfectly with his show and the pieces he presented. Dion Lee was another inspirational show. The feminine silhouettes in every piece, just made his collection a stand out.
Extreme color, and electric florals walked the Son Jung Wan runway. Her show gave me all the feels and some serious color inspiration. By far my favorite of the day was Jonathan Simkhai. He never disappoints, however this collection stood out because of the focus on strength of women. This theme was so fitting for what is currently happening in America, so it was incredibly moving to see this brought out in his designs. I am so grateful for being able to come and be inspired by these amazingly talented designers season after season.
